Training

Training

Training is one of three areas of ministry that are linked to everything that YWAM does. Our training programs aim to equip Christians to better serve others in a wide variety of fields, from agriculture and health to rehabilitation from addictions and ministering in cross-cultural situations.
Every training program reflects the mandate of YWAM: To know God and to make Him known.

Each of our courses can be offered either as a separate program or as part of a degree with the University of the Nations. The DTS (Disciple Training School) is the pre-requisite if you want to serve as a YWAM staff member or enroll in other University of the Nations courses. For the most part, YWAM courses include an intensive lecture phase where students will focus on a variety of subjects relevant to the particular course they are taking.

The lecture phase combines theoretical learning with practical application. It is often followed by a practical phase where students will put into practice what they have learned. Sometimes the practical phase is optional. Each school can last from three to nine months depending on the focus.

VS – Vacation School

Aimed at teens over 14 years of age, the VS is a great opportunity for personal growth over the holidays. The lecture phase involves classes in creative evangelism, holiness, sexuality, and identity. The outreach involves dance, circus and drama workshops, as well as a short missionary trip. All this knowledge in just three weeks of school.

DTS – Discipleship Training School

This course is the gateway for those who want to become an effective disciple of Jesus Christ and also want to be involved in missions with YWAM.
Not just an academic course, the DTS emphasizes applying Biblical principles and developing a heart of faith. The DTS addresses both the messenger and the message and is for Christians of all ages and cultures who wish to respond to God’s call.

FCM – Foundations for Counselling Ministry

The FCM seeks to equip the student with tools for reaching and ministering to people. This fundamental school provides basic counselling techniques that will be beneficial to every worker regardless of the ministry they work in.

FST – Foundations for Social Transformation

Utilizing a Biblical Worldview, the FST school seeks to demonstrate to people that they are not victims of destiny and they are not without the power of decision or the conditions to effect change in their own lives and communities.
God has placed in each community gifts, talents, and abilities that need only to be discovered and put into practice in order for that community to fulfil God’s purpose.

CAR – Children at Risk

With around seven million street children in Brazil and millions more around the world, this course is designed to train people to reach atrisk children and bring them an understanding of God’s love. During the course, you will be challenged to plan a specific project to reach children at risk.
